Jonathan Says "I Know There Is Corruption In Nigeria, But..."

President Goodluck Jonathan has confirmed that truly there is corruption in his government but he claims it is not as bad as many are being made to believe by the media. He said it's just 'small corruption'.

Jonathan, who was speaking at the Presidential Power Reform Transaction signing ceremony at the banquet hall of Aso Rock in Abuja on Monday, claimed that:
“Yes, there are issues of corruption in this country but somehow it has been over amplified. People should watch how we have been conducting government business. We have been bringing down the issues of corruption gradually.
“Look at the power sector, when we started initially there were stories in the papers but at the end, even when I was in the US, companies from there that participated said publicly that the process was transparent and issues of corruption was not there.
“At least, today we have also heard directly, that the process was transparent and that there were no issues of manipulations or corruptions.”
Urging Nigerians to support him, Jonathan said: “I plead with Nigerians that the country belongs to all of us and we will all protect what belongs to us, what belongs to our children and what belongs to the generation yet unborn. We are committed to doing our best for this country God willing, we will succeed.”

Mr President's claim is coming few days after the United States government indicted the Federal Government which he heads of massive and widespread corruption.

5 Things Single Women Hate to Hear

Check out the five things no single woman wants to hear below;

1. You're Too Picky:
Many single women are told that they need to lower their standards and while this may be true for some, it is still an unfair statement. There are people with higher standards than that particular lady that are not single. Very few people choose to be single and this statement makes it seem like it’s their fault. While it may be well-meaning, saying this implies that at the point the particular single friend or loved one has reached, she is no longer allowed to be discriminating.

The 4 Things Every Son Needs From His Father

Roland Warren, father of two sons and board member of the National Fatherhood Initiative, explains the simple but critical support any dad can give his child.
By Roland C. Warren

I am often asked what sons need from their fathers. My answer really boils down to a few simple but critical things that every good dad must do, built on a framework of providing, nurturing and guiding.

But here's the problem: Too often, fathers think they're doing a better job in these areas than they really are. I've found that these four questions, though, can help a father ensure he's giving his son the fundamental things he needs. (And if a child's father is not in the picture, his mother can use these questions as a guide to help her find male role models who can give her son these kinds of affirmation.)

UPDATE: Shehu Sani Rejects Jonathan's Appointment

Popular Northern based human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has rejected his appointment to serve in the 26-member Presidential Committee inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan to engage key members of dreaded Boko Haram sect.

Shehu Sani who said he was even not consulted before his name was used, warned that Jonathan is going about the whole amnesty issue in a wrong way...

In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Shehu Sani said: “My friends called me this afternoon to inform me that they saw my name on the list of the Presidential committee on Amnesty... This is to thank our president for giving me such an honour and consideration.

"However, I humbly and respectably wish to decline to serve as member. My advice remains: Reach out to the persons I mentioned their names in my interviews in the dailies to discreetly consult with the group to get their input on the idea. Thanks.”

You may wish to know that Shehu Sani has repeatedly told the Presidency the "best way to address the crises" but they keep ignoring him. He said a journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who had direct contact with the main Boko Haram leaders and usually reported their activities, should be engaged to reach out to them and help sell the idea of amnesty to them and get their commitment.

The government have consistently ignored his suggestions so he wondered why they appointed him.

7 Ways To Lose A Guy Forever

Most women want the special man in their lives to be there forever. But if you’re looking for guaranteed ways to send a man away for good, find out here.
1, Don’t respect him.
There are few things that can send a man away faster than disrespect. Even if he deserves your respect, don’t give it to him. Don’t value him. Don’t listen. Don’t consider his priorities or concerns. Make sure he feels your life would be much better if he weren’t in it.
2, Complain about him.
Most men look to the women in their lives to build their self esteem and their ego. Make sure he knows that you expect him to fail because he is good for nothing. Tell all your friends what a loser he is, while he’s there, and never, ever praise him.

10 signs your relationship is doomed

139677216

1. He tells you you’re fat. Even if it’s disguised as a joke, if your partner criticizes your weight or certain parts of your body, you don’t have to grit your teeth and listen. Even if you could stand to lose a few pounds, that is your decision to make — not his.

2. He ignores you. If he consistently tunes you out, refuses to talk or is constantly distracted by the game, his phone or anything else, this could mean your relationship is in the danger zone. No matter how busy your partner is, you shouldn't have to jump up and down trying to get his attention.

UPDATE: Dino Melaye Shot In Abuja, Escapes Assassination

"When you fight corruption, it fights back strongly," this was the first reaction of Hon. Dino Melaye to the latest of attempts to silence him by "some evil forces in the corridors of power."

According to an exclusive report to Olufamous.com by an insider, Dino, a former member of the House of Representatives would have been assassinated on Monday night if not that his car is bullet-proof...

Dino who has been blowing the whistle against monumental corruption in the last one year or so has also been receiving several threats to his life from "corruption people."

Strangely, Olufamous.com gathered that Dino's car was shot at in an area close to where a combination of military and police personnel are stationed for a 24-hour surveillance in Abuja city centre. How come those who were sent to kill him were comfortable to attack him in such area beats his imagination.

Dino has said he can't be intimidated and that he will continue to expose corruption in high place.

How President Jonathan Landed Us In This Trouble ––Bishop Kukah

Catholic Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, social critic and commentator, has said that President Goodluck Jonathan erred in the planned amnesty for the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

He said, “The first point to make is that the argument has not been properly framed and we are frankly in a state of confusion arising from the fact that we ought not to have heard about amnesty from the President now. The President should not have made a statement either for or against amnesty because the President is the Supreme Court."

FG Bans Film On Nigerian Poverty, Places Producer Under Security Watch-PREMIUM TIMES

Ishaya Bako
By Ogechi Ekeanyanwu
The Nigerian government has banned the airing and distribution of the documentary, Fueling Poverty, a 30-minute film which documents the massive poverty in Nigeria and advocates against corruption and greed in the country.
The documentary, released late in 2012, was produced by young filmmaker, Ishaya Bako, in partnership with the Open Society for West Africa [OSIWA].
After the project was completed last year, Mr. Bako sent it in to the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, a national agency which vets,  classifies, and approves films and videos meant for distribution and exhibition in Nigeria.
But in an April 8 letter to Mr. Bako, exclusively obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Friday, the agency prohibited the distribution and exhibition of the documentary in Nigeria, saying its contents “are highly provocative and likely to incite or encourage public disorder and undermine national security.”
