Leader Who Inspires

Q: What are the top three qualities you think every leader should have?
A:
Lead by example, knowledge and experience


Q: What is the biggest challenge you face as a leader?
A:
Being able to support staff in a caring, kind and thoughtful manner, while holding them accountable to reach their goals and results. It’s a balancing act to keep the work environment fun and focused.


Q: What are the most important decisions you make as a leader at Coast?
A:
Excellent scheduling in order to give premium customer service, coaching my staff to ensure they educate and help our customers, and enforcing the importance of training our future leaders.


Q: When faced with two equally-qualified candidates, how do you determine whom to hire?
A:
I would choose the person with the best attendance and reliability, since absenteeism impacts the team’s morale and overall customer service.


Q: What is one mistake you witness leaders making more frequently than others?
A:
Not looking at the “Bigger Picture” and actively listening when making decisions.


Q: What is the one behavior or trait that you have seen de-rail more leaders’ careers?
A:
When a leader has all the right words, but doesn’t back them up (no action)!


Q: What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
A:
Be honest, be fair, be a team player, have an “open door” policy, and communicate.


Q: What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop as a leader?
A:
Embrace change as it comes along and see the glass half full.
