Wale Babalakin Turns To Odili’s Judge In Effort To Evade Arrest and Prosecution

In another dramatic twist, the embattled chairman of Bi-Courtney, Wale Babalakin, who is currently holed up at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has filed another lawsuit at the Lagos High Court to restrain the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from arresting or prosecuting him for money laundering.
A federal judge in Lagos last week threw out a similar application after SaharaReporters exposed the deal.  Mr. Babalakin’s original lawyer also withdrew from the case last week.
However, from his hospital bed at LUTH, Mr. Babalakin has repackaged the same lawsuit and the case has been assigned to Justice Ibrahim Buba, the Federal High Court judge who is infamous for granting the perpetual injunction in Port Harcourt that the EFCC has used as an excuse for not prosecuting the former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili.
Mr. Odili stole several billions of Naira from Rivers State, but he has never been brought to account as the EFCC, under Mrs. Farida Waziri, conveniently claimed it could not prosecute the former governor due to Justice Buba’s ruling.
The judge granted Mr. Babalakin accelerated hearing after the application came before him earlier today.
Mr. Babalakin’s case before justice Buba is scheduled for action on Thursday.
