Speaking yesterday in Jos while dedicating the headquarters of the Maranatha Covenant Church International, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye stated that over 46 branches of the church were burnt down in the violence following the 2011 elections in Northern Nigeria.
According to Vanguard, “he made this known in Jos on Wednesday while dedicating the the Maranatha Covenant Church International headquarters noting that Christians in the North were being persecuted innocently.”

He commended Christians for remaining steadfast in face of persecution urging them to draw closer to God and be prayerful.Taking his Bible Reading from the Book of Romans chapter 8 verse 31, Pastor Adeboye charged christians to depend on God as their saviour.
He called on all christian faithful to seek the face of God first in all they do as God has always kept his covenant with those that seek Him.
Senior Pastor of Maranatha Covenant Church, Bishop Jonas Katung who was also consecrated, extolled the virtues of Pastor Adeboye whom he said God was using in various ways because of his humility.
Adeboye later presided over an inter-denomination service organized by the state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria at the Living Faith Church, Jos.
